Frequently Asked Questions
Encompass Health is planning to build a 50-bed, one-story inpatient rehabilitation hospital which could potentially be built out to 80 beds at the corner of PGA Boulevard and Ballenisles Drive.
The Palm Beach Garden's project is still in an early phase and a timeline has yet to be finalized. Once approved, construction will only take place during hours designated by the City/development/neighborhood HOA out of respect of the neighbors. A typical 50-bed hospital takes approximately 16 months to construct.
Encompass Health is the nation’s largest owner and operator of inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and also a leader in home health and hospice services. Through customized care plans, Encompass Health’s teams help patients regain function, strength, confidence, and independence after experiencing a life‑altering injury such as a stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, or complex orthopedic condition. Encompass Health currently operates 14 hospitals in Florida, including a nearby location in Stuart.
Encompass Health has frequently been named as a Best Place to Work in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare and was named one of Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies for 2021.
Encompass Health hospitals are licensed as specialty hospital with the provision of providing physical medicine and rehabilitative services. This hospital is not to be confused as a rehabilitation center that serves people recovering from drug or alcohol addiction. Encompass Health serves patients on a short-term basis, on average a 13-14 day stay, who have been diagnosed with a major illness or injury that requires intensive physical, occupational or speech therapies. Patient care will be overseen by physicians.
Patients will be transferred to the hospital from a local acute care hospital via ambulance, but it is very rare that emergency lights and sirens will be turned on.
To learn more about how our teams make a difference in our patients’ lives, read the stories of Dean, Gayle, Martin and Lafayette.
Our hospital will bring new, high-wage jobs to the area including therapists, pharmacists, case managers, nurses, dietary specialists and more. In preparation for opening, it will hire approximately 100 full-time employees.
Our hospital will be a state-of-the-art facility designed to blend into the surrounding properties. Its one-story design will feature nice landscaping, upgraded signage and a courtyard where patients can practice navigating on a variety of terrains. All sides of the building were considered when designing the facility so that the back will look very similar to the front of the hospital. Sample renderings may be viewed on this site.
Our hospital will offer all private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym with the latest rehabilitation technologies, an activities of daily living suite where patients can comfortably practice preparing meals and self-care, a cafeteria and dining room, day rooms, in-house pharmacy, outdoor therapy courtyard and more.
Being a good neighbor is of high importance to us. We strive to be a valued and respected care provider in the local network and make a difference in our communities. More about our Company’s sustainability efforts may be viewed in our Sustainability Report.
Encompass plans to hire 100 professional staff for phase one and another 60 at phase two. There are two shifts, 7 AM to 7 PM and & 7 PM to 7 AM. Patients arrive in non emergency hospital vehicles and stay for approximately two weeks. There will be little or no added traffic during peak hours.
